Our story

Ring's Marine Service has been a fixture on the Harraseeket River in South Freeport since 1963. What started as a small family operation has grown into a full-service marina and boatyard — but the family part hasn't changed.

We're proud of the two sides of our business. On one side, we run one of the largest paddle sports rental fleets in the area: single and tandem sea kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and bicycles, with complimentary delivery to inns, cottages, and the public dock down the road. Our Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guides lead trips and beginner instruction on the protected waters of Casco Bay — some of the prettiest paddling in New England.

On the other side, our marine service yard takes care of boats from spring commissioning to fall haul-out and everything in between. Sailboat rigging, fiberglass and varnish, inboard, outboard, and diesel engine work, certified divers for mooring service and underwater inspections, hauling with a padded hydraulic trailer, indoor and outdoor winter storage, shrink-wrapping, a boat brokerage, and a chandlery for the things you forgot.

We're open year-round, seven days a week, and our staff is made up of experienced, knowledgeable locals who actually live and boat on this water. Whether it's your first time in a kayak or your fortieth season on a sloop, we'd be glad to help.

Come down to the yard.
